Mystery Writing

I received a Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies and M.A. in French from the University of Chicago.  In 1982, I started my own business.  Over the years, I have developed more than 50 educational books and programs for health care professionals and the general public, and I have lectured widely, both in the United States and abroad.

I have also received 12 grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and have written successful grant proposals for various nonprofit organizations.

I currently reside in Palm Springs and recently wrote an article for Palm Springs Life magazine on the city’s early women entrepreneurs titled Women With Vision.

Ever since discovering Nancy Drew in 5th grade, I have been a fan of mysteries. In 1987, I participated in a small three-week workshop conducted by P.D. James at the University of California, Irvine.  She was very inspiring and encouraged me to continue writing.  And so, I did.

All three books are available on Amazon.

Hi! I’m Rita Strombeck.  I’m the author of two Sunshine Valley Mysteries.  The first one is called Hot Tub of Death and is followed by its sequel, Corpse in the Cactus.  Both of these cozy mysteries take place in Arizona’s beautiful Sonoran desert.

I’ve also written Digging for Daisy: A PeeWee Holmes and Chutney Watson Mystery for children.
